Rulers of My Heart
Awesome albums that stick with me and ring in my ears (positive connotation)! Some of these have commentary, some of these don't. I lied. These ALL have some kind of commentary. Because, as it turns out, I yap like there's no tomorrow. Goddamn.
In no particular order, but newest additions are to be found at the very bottom.

| Band: | Slipknot | |
| Genre: | Nu Metal | |
| Fav. track(s): | Tattered & Torn, Spit It Out | |
My gateway drug into metal. <3 There's nothing else for me to say (that hasn't been said before by billions of other people). It's just a really good album!
| Axis of Light | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Axis of Light | |
| Genre: | Raw Black Metal | |
| Fav. track: | On Whom the Red Moon Bleeds | |
This album is basically what introduced me to black metal, and I adore it. It was hard to listen to at first, but— through the magical process of going on a roadtrip and listening to it on repeat while staring out a car’s window —I really warmed up to Axis Of Light’s sound over time.
| Thoughts on Life... and Death | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | CEMETERY | |
| Genre: | Death Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Thoughts on Death | |
Introduced me to old school death metal. Maybe not the objectively best album out there, but I love it.
| Ang Trahedya ng Dalisay at Ketungin | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Dalisay | |
| Genre: | Death Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Ang Libing na Naipundar ni Jetro R Soler | |
ANTI-CAPITALISM AND ANTI-CORRUPTION PINOY DEATH METAL?! WITH FILIPINO LYRICS!? WE LOVE TO SEE IT. God. We need more albums like this and more bands like Dalisay.
| Mortal Coil | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Dödsrit | |
| Genre: | Atmospheric Black Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Apathetic Tongues | |
So very terribly relatable. What an album. I love the lyrics on Apathetic Tongues the most.
| Rose Thorn Necklace | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Ghost Bath | |
| Genre: | Post-black Metal / DSBM | |
| Fav. track: | Well, I Tried Drowning | |
The lyrics throughout this whole album are gross and edgy and.. just overall a lot. And I see why putting this album on here may be a concern. BUT, consider; I like how it sounds.
| Schattentod in der Leiberswelt | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Winselmutter | |
| Genre: | Black Metal / DSBM | |
| Fav. track: | Desecrated Hope, Desolation Forest | |
AMAZING debut album!! A lot of people agree that the vocals are delightfully otherworldly and I think so too! I also based this layout on this very album's cover art.

Hidden Treasures | |
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Megadeth | |
| Genre: | Heavy Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Angry Again, No More Mr. Nice Guy | |
Honestly, I don't care much about current Megadeth. The older and sillier songs in here go hard, though.
| Ketzergeyst | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Winselmutter | |
| Genre: | Black Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Bloodmoon Witchery | |
Winselmutter's first EP. Holy SHIT. I'm sure it speaks for itself well ennugh.
| Dödsrit | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Dödsrit | |
| Genre: | Atmospheric Black Metal | |
| Fav. track: | Endless Circle | |
Mortal Coil remains the GOAT, of course, but their crust influences are much more audible here.. and as someone who likes crust, I find that delightful.
| Scream Bloody Gore | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Death | |
| Genre: | Death metal | |
| Fav. track: | Sacrificial, Zombie Ritual | |
All of Death's albums are good, but I like it the most when they're unashamedly gore-y in their lyrics, and that's very apparent in their first album! It scratches the morbid curiosity itch wonderfully.
| Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism | ||
|---|---|---|
| Band: | Immortal | |
| Genre: | Black metal | |
| Fav. track: | The Call Of The Wintermoon | |
Surely I don't need a reason to justify me liking this. It's Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism! A (well-deservedly) popular classic album!! Who doesn't like it!!!
In all seriousness, out of all of Immortal's later releases, I love their debut album the best. It's so striking to me. They never made an album like this again. (Though obviously I still do like their later works..)
